As a part of the University of Houston’s capital improvements to the Science and Research building, the team was engaged to provide design engineering services for the replacement and construction of the existing SR1 greenhouse. Our MEP team worked alongside PBK Architects and the greenhouse consultant. The greenhouse was provided with new evaporative cooling, natural gas unit heater freeze protection, plumbing, and power distribution systems. One of the project challenges was to integrate all utilities from the adjacent laboratory building.

The new greenhouse is home to the campus Horticulture Society, Campus Communi-ty Garden, and the Biology and Biochemistry Department.
