Patterson-UTI
Houston, Texas
Multiple tenant renovation projects have been completed and are in the works for Patterson UTI. Patterson is a contract drilling company that relocated its office headquarters in 2016 to two floors at 10713 West Sam Houston Parkway North. Originally, the office was finished out from an existing shell space. The air handling units and medium pressure ductwork serving the floors were re-used, while new terminal units, fan powered boxes, ductwork and air devices were installed throughout. The multi-floor office contained private and open offices, break/coffee areas, conference rooms, and a server room designed for growth.
There were some challenges with the server room, as the initial requirements provided to the design team had a much higher electrical demand and heat load than what would actually be installed at the onset. Through a subsequent renovation, we were able to carry out a solution to relocate this unit to a densely populated call center area and provide two smaller units in the server room that could be staged for the present and future conditions.
A 170 seat/365 person standing training center was finished out from shell. We designed lighting controls so manually dimmed lights would seamlessly work with the latest energy code requirements of automatic dimming based on daylight and vacancy sensors located within the rooms.
Most recently, a two floor office renovation was completed. This scope included a 24/7 raised floor pipeline monitoring area and support rooms that required separate DX split systems integrated with the floor’s existing VAV system.
Throughout every renovation we were on schedule, with minimal issues. RFIs were kept to a minimum and all submittals were reviewed in a timely manner. This high standard of project delivery ensured our continual involvement with the client, and helped to create a successful project environment for the design and construction team.
